Looks like the Douglas detail is going to run at least to the end of this fiscal year. As usual, the people down there seem to be making this as miserable as possible.
I talked to ER BP today and was told that the folks in Douglas have been told that it's almost impossible to fly out of our part of the world and get to Tuscon by 1:30PM asthey "ordered" in the detail wire. They supposedly have also said that they won't make people sit at the airport for hours to wait for a ride. We'll see if these discussions sink in at all. Either they have no idea of US geography or they just don'tcare how they jerk people around.
If you have problems, please let me know. Perhaps if we complain often enough, someone will get the point.
To the members of Local 2724 and Local 2499.

Just a reminder to write to or otherwise contact your congressional delegations regarding LEA pay. We need to let them know that we're opposed and why we are. If you're not sure of what to tell them, look under the LEAP articleshere on the website. Would those of you who are reading this, please share the info with others who, like me, "electronically challenged"?
CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) "negotiations"The contract negotiations are dragging on. We just finished an abbreviated session in Palm Springs, CA. We ended a day early so that the Commissioner could try again(unsuccessfully) to sell President Bonner on INS' pay "reform" proposal. At this point, it's pretty much a matter of getting stuff ready to go the the FSIP (Federal Service Impasses Panel). Hard to predict a time frame. More to follow.
I'm working on a letter (Really.) to be sent to all the stations. Once I get that done, I'll put most or all of it up here. I hope to be able to use this site to do most of our communications. It's really a pain typing something on Word Perfect, copying it, sticking it in about 28 different envelopes, addressing them, and getting them to the Post Office. If we can do it here, it's a heck of a lot easier.
